The Finance Director/Deputy City Treasurer is responsible for full-service accounting and internal financial operations, including accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and investment portfolio management for the City of Leadville.
The Finance Director/Deputy City Treasurer is also responsible for managing the City’s budget process, and administering approved budgets, as well as collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial data; reporting such data to City Council, creditors, and the general public in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
The Finance Director/Deputy City Treasurer also provides fiscal support to all city departments and ensures the fiscal affairs of the City are efficiently and effectively managed in accordance with city policies and state and federal statutes. In brief, as custodian of public funds, the Treasurer is responsible for managing and safeguarding the City’s financial resources.
The City of Leadville also elects or appoints an elected city treasurer. Kristol Hewlett was appointed to the vacancy in January 2024.
