The City of Leadville has established an Urban Renewal Authority, overseen by an 11-member board comprising seven city council members, three taxing district representatives, and one at-large member. In 2019, the board adopted a comprehensive plan focusing on areas within the city limits.

Our primary objective is to revitalize and restore Leadville's historic downtown district. Building owners and businesses in this area require financial assistance to undertake necessary restorations, and the Urban Renewal Plan is designed to provide this support. Without such initiatives, our downtown buildings risk continued decay and deterioration. Through the Urban Renewal Plan, we aim to make a significant, positive impact on preserving and enhancing our historic downtown.
