Short Term Rentals

 

Safety Check

  • The Fire Safety Inspector is providing safety checks for the City's Short Term Rental licensing process. To learn more about that process please refer to the Short-Term Rental License page.
  • To schedule a fire safety check please email Fire Safety Inspector, with the address and contact information, at prevention [at] leadvillefire.org (prevention[at]leadvillefire[dot]org).

Once you have scheduled a safety check, you should receive some form of communication from the Fire Safety Inspector confirming your appointment

  • The Safety Check Affidavit form has the criteria required to pass the fire safety check. The safety check signed by the Fire Safety Inspector and the Safety Check Affidavit forms are both required forms that you will upload with other materials for submission of a complete short-term rental application when submitting an STR license on the LodgingRevs platform; it can also be found in the documents below.
  • Fire Safety Inspector will provide you a filled-out and complete safety check and a property owner will sign the safety affidavit. 

Applications

  • City Council adopted changes to Chapter 5.12 of Title 5 and various sections of Title 17 of the Leadville Municipal Code concerning short-term rentals on 2/2/2021. Short-Term Rental Code Changes
  • The STR season runs from May 1st -to April 30th and is an annual license. A license is conducted completely online with the platform MuniRevs. In order to have a license, you must first email to see if one is available with the city of Leadville. Please email the City Clerk to see if a license is available for your property.
  • The annual cap, for Class 1 Conditional Use Permits for multiple licenses and Class 2 licenses, is 171 licenses or 12% for 2022-2023

If you are seeking a Class 1, owner-occupied unit or a Class 2 (non-owner-occupied) license, you may  email the City Clerk to request an online application through MuniRevs.


Licenses

  • The annual renewal season opened on March 15th. Existing license holders are contacted through MuniRevs with the renewal instructions for the new season which must be completed by April 30th annually in order to secure their license for the new season.
  • If you're eligible to obtain a new license and have not yet obtained a safety inspection, please schedule your fire safety check. Please email Fire Safety Inspector, with the address and contact information, at prevention [at] leadvillefire.org (prevention[at]leadvillefire[dot]org).

The short-term rental license fee schedule is $325 for both license types.
